Back to school
So, I am not back to school and all settled in. The New Guys are slowly going through their orientation week, and I think they are all settling in pretty well. We have all new good and holy Priests here to help form us into the men Christ and Church wants us to be, so it should be an exciting year.
I should have some pretty good classes too. I start off Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's with Metaphysics, and then after Lunch and Mass I have Spanish followed by Faith and Reason and concluding with Biology. On Tuesday's and Thursday's I only have Dictatorships in the Twentieth Century. All should be good classes, and a considerably lighter load from last semesters 21 (I only have 16 now). Should be interesting.
We also have a new horarium, we now start the day at 6:45 AM with the Angelus followed by Meditation and then Lauds at 7:30. On Fridays, we start with a Holy Hour at 6:30 AM. In the evening we have a Study Time from 7:00-9:00. This should help us whip back into shape. Our Chapel is also finally done, we had a hard wood floor installed, and we refinished pews for it. It looks really nice, I will post a picture sometime.
My loft has also been assembled and it looks good too. It makes my room better. I will post a picture of that too.
I wish I would have been able to go to World Youth Day, it looked like a blast, but it was not meant to be. I hope to be able to go to Sydney in 2008.
Well, this is shaping up to be a good school year. Pray for us, and we shall pray for you.

Pope Talks to Pilgrims at World Youth Day - Yahoo! News
The Holy Father, Benedict XVI, has returned to his native Germany to take part in World Youth Day there. Should be interesting, and tell us a lot about the youth and the Pope.

Iraq
I have been doing some thinking on the War in Iraq. Regardless if you were for the war or against the war back in March 2003, I think we now have the moral obligation to remain in Iraq and complete the task that was started. The war may or may not have been justified, John-Paul II condemned it, and I don't know what I personally think about it, however, it would be a terrible moral mistake to simply abandon the Iraqi people after we completely dismantled their government and way of life. These calls to abandon Iraq and bring the military home are terrible calls to be making, as this will only cause more strife to the Iraqi people and in the long run hurt America after the terrorists announce that they were right all a long and the rest of the Muslim world agrees with them.
I do believe, however, that America is making a mistake by not appealing for World Assistance at this point. It is in not only America's best interest that Iraq succeeds, but in the world's best interest. At this point, what your stance on the war was is irrelevant. It was for purposes like this that the UN was formed, I say make them do what they should actually be doing, instead of having them force abortions in other parts of the world.
Basically, I have been thinking about this because of the protests of Cindy Sheehan. I see many signs and more talk of just pulling our troops out, which would be a disastrous mistake. Every time America starts something and doesn't finish it, it always turns out for the worst.
I also think this rhetoric of attacking other people, Iran and North Korea, needs to stop. We don't have the resources to even contemplate that. If we want to attack Iran to protect Israel and Europe, let Israel and Europe handle the problem. If we want to protect Japan from North Korea, then let Japan handle it. If America wasn't so nuclear hungry, seeking a Star Wars defense program, and would have listened to John XXIII in 1960 when he called for world wide nuclear disarmament, we probably wouldn't have this problem today. We America as a sovereign state has the right to Nuclear weapons, then who are to say that Iran and North Korea as a sovereign state is not entitled to them? Yes, it is a bad idea for them to have them, but we can't tell them they can't have them, when we have a huge stock pile of them sitting here at home. Until someone comes into the world who is a visionary on disarmament, more and more rogue states are going to acquire this technology. Also, why aren't we telling Pakistan and India they can't have them? That is the part of the world where Nuclear War is most likely, and has been on the brink many times over the past few years.
As for the Jews in Israel in these settlements, I hate to say it, but I guess they know how the Palestinians felt when the Jews moved in and pushed them out. If they were truly interested in peace, and not in genocide against the Palestinian people, then there would be no problem in abandoning these settlements which have been used to attack the Palestinian people. Both sides are losers in this, and neither side can claim not to have blood on their hands, but they both need to get serious about peace. They should give Gaza and the West Bank back to the Palestinians, and declare Jerusalem to be some special zone where neither side claims the land. Jerusalem has been fought over for far to long, going back to the days of the Crusades, I think the place were Jesus Christ gave salvation to the world deserves a little peace and the only way to accomplish that is to declare it some sort of International Zone.
Just my thoughts on Military Situations throughout the world today...

There was a time...
There was a time when the Church (at least some in the Church) sought to remove Crucifixes from public places. I am glad that Pope Benedict is seeking to have the Crucifix part of everyday life again. God Bless the Pope!

Behind the Times
I don't understand this phrase which people will use to try to justify women priests, openly homosexual priests, and married priests. What was truth yesterday, will be true again today, and will be true again tomorrow. I suppose you can argue in favor of a married priesthood, but women's ordination and homosexuality are all de fide (of the faith). They can't be changed; it is truth today and truth tomorrow. These aren't matters of personal opinion some Pope held, but issues of truth which Our Lord himself set forth. Our Lord did not even make his own Mother, the purest and most holy of all mankind, a Priest. Yet, she still did not lose any of her holiness or dignity. She is still the best and holiest of all humans.
For those who argue to do that would be counter-cultural, and something Jesus would not do, I say bah. Jesus himself was counter-cultural for the time. He did many things which ran contrary to the wishes of those in power. It was because he was counter-cultural, because he was not understood, because people were blind that he was put to death. If Christ truly wanted woman to be priests, he had some of the most holiest women following him but did not make one of them a priest. That says a lot...
As for open homosexuals, the Church has always taught that this was a sin. From the Old Testament to the New, from Tradition to today, it has always been the same teaching. So, we either must disregard 4000+ years of divine teaching on the subject, or we either accept it and try to work through the crosses and trials we are given and accept them with joy for the sake of the kingdom of God. The Church just can not change doctrine that has been held for centuries based on the latest gallup poll. It is exactly in these times, when the Church is 'behind the times', that it is needed to stay consistent the most and teach the people the truths of God.
This whole, behind the times theology, all goes directly back to this Dictatorship of Relativism which Pope Benedict XVI has spoken of. It is also another misunderstanding of what equal rights and human rights.
Maybe one day, these people with an 8th grade CCD education will stop trying to prove the Church wrong and stop confusing other mostly faithful Catholics into falling into their error. I suppose better and more consistent catechesis would help too...

Monsignor Clarke...
FOXNews.com - U.S. & World - Monsignor Resigns Amid Affair Accusation
Now, is this really National News? Secondly, the fact that the husband is showing this so called tape to everyone makes it seem to me as though he has some sort of an agenda or something. I don't know many people who would run around showing everyone a tape of his wife supposibly having an affair. Seems fishy...

National Sovereignty
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4140992.stm
What is seen here is a blatant attack on a National Sovereign power. This is a threat which both the European Union and the United Nations posses to countries who are now struggling to maintain their own identity. This is an attempt at the One World Order and a One World Government, and the EU and the UN is the way in which these people are getting at that which they want.
When an international or inter-continental organization meant to either keep the peace or help counties better collaborate begins to dictate laws on a country, or even believe that they have the power to do so, is a terrible crime. I do not believe the EU or the UN has the authority to speak on Abortion either way. Neither organization was created for anything remotely close to that issue, and should not even be addressing it. Both organizations focus too much energy on promoting abortion, criticizing those who don't approve it, then on promoting justice and peace.
The people of Ireland have spoken numerous times on the issue of Abortion. The EU does not have the authority or the power to impose abortion on them. The EU is already on the verge failure, if they agree with these women and attempt to impose Abortion on the Irish People, then they will have a crisis of another kind on their hands and will most certainly lead to the dissolution of the Union. Of course, this wouldn't be such a bad thing since the EU already misrepresents the people of Europe, and fails to listen to what they say. A corrupt bureaucracy is never a good thing, especially when it believes that it has more authority than it really does.
These massive organizations must be put back in their place. They were not created to rule, they were created to serve. They were meant to help people, not over rule them. Nation's Sovereignty is under attack, and it is beyond time that these organizations are put back in their places.

Eventful Week
Well, know life is back to somewhat normalcy, but not for long.
I was camping for a few days with my family, but now I am home to keep everything under control until the rest of my family gets back home. Everything is going pretty good so far.
Last night I was at a meeting on the Diocesan Vocations Website. It should be really nice when it is done. Our target date is Vocations Awareness Week in January. The domain name should be http://www.youngstownvocations.org/.
I hope I was allowed to say that. LOL!
I cooked Spaghetti Sauce today for a party which I am having on Sunday. So, today for dinner, we had Spaghetti. My Grandma came up, and my brother was here, and we tested my sauce. It was good. I am also on this salad kick in which I use red leaf lettuce, cherry tomatoes, with balsamic vinegar and oil. I know I am not the first to think of it, but I can't stop making it. So, there is a nice big pot of sauce in my fridge now for Sunday.
I also cut the grass, and did some lawn work today. So, basically I cut the weeds, since that is all that is growing. Can't the damn things just die. Do they ever just die? I think they are immortal.
I also went up to my Parish to get my instruction for tomorrow. Tomorrow I start taking Holy Communion to those parishioners in Nursing Homes and who are Home Bound. I am not sure what to expect, but I will shortly find out.
I also return back to the school on Friday the 19th to help with Orientation. It should be an interesting week. It is probably the easiest week in school, since we really don't do anything. I sort of wish I was still going to be home for that week, but I guess I have to go back sooner or later.
I have also been thinking, which is a dangerous thing for me to do, about the importance of the Priest giving Holy Communion to the faithful at Mass. I think there may be some deeper Theological meaning behind the Priest as Alter Christus giving Holy Communion over a lay person like myself. I will have to think about that a bit more and see if there is anything really theological behind it.
Finally, I wish I had something in which I could put the face of Jesus, oh I mean have the face of Jesus just randomly appear in which I then get some money for it...

There is also a Real Picture of Jesus being sold on Ebay for $1,500,000. Anyone interested?
Pax et Bonum.

Life
Well, the Diocese had its annual Summer Retreat. It was a nice time, though over shadowed by some personal family problems going on at the time. Me being me, I sat there and thought of ways to save the world from this crisis, couldn't sleep, and allowed it to dominate my mind. Oh well, it still ended up being a good retreat. The food was especially good this year. Now I am back home working on the Parish Website, working on the list of those I have to go and visit and take Holy Communion too, and working to save the world from our latest family crisis. And all this must be done in the two weeks I have left here before I go back to the Seminary.
Today I spent the day going to all the Roman Catholic Churches in my city, and taking pictures of them. I also gathered a little more information from the Parishes. Tomorrow, I will pay a visit to the Cemetery and take pictures there for the webpage. I also took pictures of our Parish School too.
Then I came home and wasted my day. I also read a little in the Ohio Revised Code to see what the law said about some issues.
All that I will say on my family crisis is this. Trust is a very important thing, and sometimes you need to be careful who you place your trust in. There is a terrible minority of people out there who will use you and take advantage of the trust you have in them. Additionally, Family always needs to come first. Far to often families are ripped apart because of a cancer growing in it which should not be there in the first place. There is the phrase, blood is thicker then water, and now some in my family are forgetting that. The immediate family is in agreement, it is the distant family which is causing all sorts of trouble now. As if things couldn't get any worse. Ah, thus is life. Finally, always try to remember Charity above all things. Extremely difficult, I know, but it is important to remember.
Well, that is all I have to say for now. When I am gone for a few days it always takes me a day or two to get updated on the happenings in the world. I feel like I have been gone a lifetime!
Pray for those Marines and other Service Men and Women who have died in Iraq. And keep all our Military in prayer as they defend freedom and our way of life.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night...
